Phoenix Films was founded by Cloyd Winstanley in 2002 when he first made his first independent film (and claims to this date to be the first independent film ever to be produced in Cagayan de Oro City) Kulasisi: Da Is2pid Boys.

Cloyd was a former Radio and Club DJ before he became a Theater Actor in 1998. In 2001, He became a Television Actor of the first Soap Opera in Cagayan de Oro Kapitan Berino.

He made a series of Independent Films under the Independent Film Production Phoenix Films.

In 2007, he ventured into multimedia business which involves video production, poster layouting, logo making, Radio Production and Events Hosting. He called it Phoenix Multimedia. It was co-founded by former Radio DJ Gio Plasos.
